Registration forms for participation in Laguna Beach’s Community Emergency Response Team — known as CERT — are being accepted. The next training starts in two weeks.
Volunteers assist police and fire departments following disasters such as floods and fires and are often the first on the scene.
Participants must live or work in Laguna Beach, be at least 18 years old and have no felony convictions.
The free course will run from May 11 through June 11. Class will meet on two Saturday mornings and from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays.
Training includes disaster preparedness, fire safety, search and rescue, traffic control and management, and terrorism awareness.
