It’s rockets away for kids and parents at Boeing event
- Share via
Parents and their children tested their science and engineering skills Saturday as they set off homemade bottle rockets at the Boeing Huntington Beach facility.
At the free event, which also featured an appearance by NASA astronaut Andrew J. Feustel, guests designed and built their own rockets with 2-liter plastic bottles and launched them using pressurized air and water.
Some also built parachutes and flight wings using recyclable materials.
Those who had their rockets in the air the longest won the chance to see a real rocket launch in the future.
Rick Baily, vice president of Boeing testing and evaluation, said in a news release that the event was a chance to teach the community and inspire “the next generation of aerospace visionaries.”
