Sheffield Steelers came from behind to beat Cardiff Devils in a shootout, stretching their winning run to eight games and keeping the pressure on Elite League leaders Belfast Giants.

Kohen Olischefski's goal, set up by Tyler Busch, gave Devils a slender lead after the first period in their final regular season game.

Brett Perlini doubled the advantage but Steelers hit back through Patrick Watling after good work by Colton Saucerman and Robert Dowd.

Mitchell Balmas had Steelers level early in the third, a goal that led to overtime and a come-from-behind win for the hosts courtesy of Mitchell Balmas' shootout goal.

Sheffield go to Coventry Blaze on Sunday needing to better Belfast's result at Nottingham Panthers to deny Giants the title.

Cardiff finished the season in fourth and prepare for the play-offs.

In the two-legged quarter-final they will be away to Coventry on Saturday, 12 April (19:00 BST) before hosting Blaze the following day (18:00 BST).
