If you’ve ever fallen down a “pantry organization” Pinterest rabbit hole, you know all about dreamy design hacks like wicker and wire boxes, glass containers, Mason jars, and chalkboard labels. That’s fine and dandy for dry goods, bulk items, and display-worthy staples (bottles of Fiji water and cans of San Marzano tomatoes), but what about the slightly-unsexy-but-absolutely-necessary oils, cooking sprays, vinegars, and baking extracts?
That’s where the Linus kitchen turntable comes in. Think of it as a Lazy Susan for your shelf: Slide it in a cupboard or onto a pantry shelf to keep bottles accessible and protected (the high sides ensure that things won’t tip over after a vigorous spin). The turntable has completely changed my cabinet-organization strategy (I first spied it in Gwyneth Paltrow’s pantry). Now, I don’t have to dump out my entire cabinet to reach one thing in the very back. Instead of precariously balancing, pushing aside, and tucking balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, and honey under my arm to get to that tiny bottle of vanilla extract all the way in the back, I simply give the turntable a spin. It also saves me the work of having to clean my cabinet shelves — when that one-liter bottle of olive oil inevitably gets sticky on the sides and bottom, it all gets contained by my Linus.
A note on sizing: Measure the depth and width of the shelf (be sure to leave about an inch on each side to ensure that your 11.5-inch turntable has room to move). If the space is too narrow or shallow, consider turning it into the most useful epicurean countertop display ever.
