If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair but the hair spray and the electric toothbrush. We asked designer Rachel Zoe, who recently partnered with the gin brand Tanqueray London, about the cashmere she lives in, her brain-boosting protein bars, and the workout system she takes on the go.
A black liquid eyeliner is part of my being. Even if it’s a very thin, almost invisible line. I use this every day as part of my five-minute makeup routine. Rare originally sent me this, and I liked it so much that I repurchased it at Sephora. I think I’m on my third or fourth pen now. This one’s easy to use and always lets me draw a precise, clean line. I put it on at like seven in the morning, and sometimes I add more for a dramatic look on a night out. And it’s not hard to wash off. That’s a huge pet peeve of mine when you have to scrub and irritate your eyes just to get your makeup off.
I have tons of these in white and black. I use them every day for smoothies, coffee, and tea. If I have a beverage that’s meant to be hot, it needs to be hot. These are a real savior. It’s actually kind of incredible how long my beverages stay warm. I take them when I’m traveling by car too, and it keeps my tea or coffee hot for hours.
These are relatively new in the world of protein bars. My friend Patrick Schwarzenegger and his mother, Maria Shriver, started this with the idea that it’s packed with ingredients that are like brain fuel. I love the messaging behind it, but they just taste great, too. The whole family loves them. I always have them with me as our snack. I personally like the berry crunch, and my kids love the chocolate bars. They would swim in chocolate if they could.
As a working mom on the go all the time, whether I’m traveling or on my way to meetings, I want something that looks good, isn’t too precious, doesn’t wrinkle or get destroyed easily, and doesn’t need to be dry-cleaned a lot. I pretty much live in my ParrishLA pieces because they’re incredibly comfortable and versatile and look polished without being too dressy. If I’m traveling, I’ll put ten of its pieces in my suitcase. I’m a big advocate for dressing up your loungewear, so I’ll throw on a set with slouchy boots and a bomber jacket for dinner. They don’t pill, and they’re not itchy, either. I think I own the caftans, bell-sleeved sweaters, and deep V-neck sweaters in pretty much every color. I probably wear the Courtney, a slouchy V-neck, the most.
This, along with Tracy Anderson’s workout, are part of my routine. I use it at least two or three times a week. It’s so easy to set up, and it comes with everything you need to get a good workout in. It’s incredible. It’s founded by a young couple who have a studio here in Los Angeles, where I live. It’s completely portable, so I can take it with me wherever — hotel rooms, the office, any room in my house. I use it mainly at home, but I’m packing it for my trip to New York next week.
I have a seven pound toy Maltipoo named Goldie. She’s such a cutie. She wears her little Ralph Lauren collar, a classic Ralph Lauren cable knit sweater, and this Mejuri pet charm. It says “Goldie Sunshine,” and it’s so cute. Because it’s 24-karat-gold-plated stainless steel, it’s super-durable, but it’s also just a simple and chic pet accessory. I get stopped all the time by people who want to pet her and know what she’s wearing.
This looks so expensive, but it’s very reasonably priced in the world of luggage. I have the carry-on and a larger suitcase, and I just had a custom bag made for my dog. It’s monogrammed with her name, Goldie. The bag is super-spacious. Along with Goldie, a few of her toys, her harness, and her leash can fit inside. I love that it’s 100 percent sustainable, but it doesn’t look like it. It just looks luxurious. I’ve traveled with it several times, and it all still looks brand-new.
Tanqueray has been my go-to for many years. It’s so refreshing and very botanical, which I really enjoy. It’s smoother than any other gin I’ve tried. It comes in a chic, beautiful bottle that we leave out. It’s been around for so long that I think when people think of gin, they think of Tanqueray. It’s an easy liquor to create cocktails with because it goes with pretty much everything. My friends and I love making French 75s or a Tanq and tonic. A lot of my friends have converted to loving gin if they didn’t before. Now, at every event or dinner party I throw, this is what I serve.
