The wide, chunky chandelier earrings of 2003 have gone the way of the Ugg boot, but that doesn’tmean hip jewelry has beendownsized. This fall sees a swell of filigree earrings, hand-fashioned from precious metals, usually with a few hanging beads of semiprecious stones. Lacy gold and silver danglers from Yvone Christa average $180 to $200, and at Kirna Zabête, Zani Gugelmann’s Peruvian confections are mostly around $700. But Banana Republic’s 22-karat-gold-plated sterling-silver earrings with rose-quartz or garnet drop stones cost just $38 (see br.com for store locations), which should leave you with enough cash to indulge in fall’s other romantic trends: silk and lace camisole tops, round-toe shoes, and giant vintage brooches.
